THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — AUGUST 2015

August is the 59th consecutive month for job growth in the U.S. economy. Employers added 173,000 jobs in August. This brings the yearly total of jobs created to 1,652,000. The unemployment rate remains low at 5.1%. The sectors experiencing growth are health care and financial services. The manufacturing and mining sectors lost jobs.
