Office demand took a hit in the first quarter of 2019, with HPE, Bank of America and other large corporate office tenants vacating large blocks of space in the Legacy area of Far North Dallas. For the quarter, a negative 708,989 square feet of net absorption was recorded. Despite this slowdown in demand, leasing activity has been active for several sectors, particularly technology companies and financial services. Also, co-working companies continue to expand rapidly in DFW and other parts of the country. In 2018, co-working companies expanded by 400,000 square feet in DFW and have already committed to an additional 500,000 square feet so far this year.
